By using the E-Expat website ("Site") and purchasing our services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Services
E-Expat provides digital relocation support services in Portugal, including but not limited to: obtaining a NIF (Tax Identification Number), NISS (Social Security Number), and providing administrative guidance.
Facilitation Only: We act as an intermediary and fiscal representative. We are not a government body, law firm, or tax office.
No Legal Advice: Our services do not constitute legal or professional tax advice.
2. Right of Withdrawal & Immediate PerformanceIn accordance with Article 16(a) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU and Portuguese Decree-Law 24/2014:
Express Consent: By purchasing our service, you provide your prior express consent for E-Expat to begin the service immediately.
Waiver of Refund: You acknowledge that once the service has been fully performed (e.g., the NIF/NISS has been issued and delivered), you forfeit your right to withdraw and are no longer eligible for a refund.
Work in Progress: If you request a cancellation after we have begun verifying your documents but before the final NIF is issued, E-Expat reserves the right to retain a €30 administrative fee to cover the costs of document review and fiscal representative assignment.
3. Fiscal Representation LimitsInitial Application: The service fee covers the appointment of a Fiscal Representative for the purpose of the initial NIF application only.
Ongoing Obligations: For non-EU residents, the Representative will remain on the NIF record as required by law. The client is responsible for updating their fiscal address or appointing a new representative once they obtain residency.
Future Fees: E-Expat may charge an annual fee for ongoing representation if the client does not update their status after 12 months.
4. Client Responsibilities & Document Quality
Accuracy: You must provide clear, legible, and accurate scans of your Passport and Proof of Address.
Rejection Policy: If an application is rejected by the Portuguese authorities due to blurry scans, expired documents, or mismatched addresses provided by the client, a €20 re-submission fee may apply.
Power of Attorney: You agree to sign the provided Power of Attorney (PoA) promptly. Delays in signing will extend the processing time.
5. Processing TimelinesEstimates: Any processing times mentioned (e.g., "3-5 days") are estimates based on average government response times.
Government Delays: E-Expat is not liable for delays caused by the Autoridade Tributária (Finanças), Social Security, government strikes, or technical outages of official portals.
6. Limitation of LiabilityFinal Decisions: The final issuance of any tax or social security number is at the sole discretion of the Portuguese government.
Maximum Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, E-Expat’s total liability is limited to the specific service fee paid by the client.
7. Data Protection (GDPR)We process your personal data in strict accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your documents are used solely for the purpose of fulfilling the requested services. For more information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
8. Governing Law & Dispute ResolutionThese Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal.Jurisdiction: Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Lisbon, Portugal.
Consumer Dispute: Residents of the EU may also access the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform.
